Dam of the Century Confirmed Pregnant

June 24, 2009

thumbnail.aspxWell, it’s official- Ppperuvian Misty Maiden is confirmed pregnant to MFI Peruvian Renosant. You might recall that the breeding last fall did not take, so we’ll have to wait until next spring to catch a glimpse of this match-up. Ken Smith, owner of the prized female reports that Misty has been staying at Poplar Hill Farm in Virginia until confirmed bred this summer.

It is unfortunate that one of the country’s finest producing Dam’s lost a year at such a late age. Some might remember Misty Maiden’s 2006 cria, SCA Peruvian Miss Priss winning 12x Championships in the fawn female show circuit. Since then the Dam has produced two daughters, neither of which were seen at shows. I can say however, that the 2007 cria, Miss May sports a 15.5 AFD, so she might be one to follow.

Sire of this Misty breeding, Renosant, might not be as much in the industry spotlight as some other males, but with his fleece and Jericho genetics backing him up, he makes for quite an exciting match for Misty Maiden. A Renosant son, El Corazon, also owned by Poplar Hill Alpacas, is a 9x Champion fawn. Surprisingly not, Ken Smith of Pepper Pot Farm will be breeding additional females to the highly awarded Renosant son.
