A Legend Passes Unexpectedly

June 25, 2009

elnino.jpgSome people have heard this already, but PCA Accoyo El Nino died this past December. In a message from owner, Greg Mecklem, death was caused by a “blizzard this year– he and his son Ulysses sat out in it”.

This comes to quite a shock to me– In my opinion the country’s #1 herdsire has passed with nothing but but offspring to carry on the genetic prowl of Caligula. El Nino was a two-time AAA Herdsire of the Year and Get-of-Sire winner. It will be the duty of Accoyo America Ulysses and Accoyo America Polaris to carry on his genetics at Greg Mecklem’s ranch. And, that of Michelangelo, Francisco , among others will have to for outside breeders.

There are a couple of El Nino offspring featured in this year’s Parade of Champions Sale. You can check them out on the Accoyo America site here.
